Tenon interim management

Autumn Update - Benchmarking interim managers

Good afternoon,

“It’s not what you know but who you know”

A well known phrase, particularly relevant to the interim management market. I think it would be fair to say that every interim we know has a strong network, as do the majority of our clients. The clever bit is putting them together in such a way to avoid a square peg in a round hole.

That is where we come in. We meet every interim manager and fully brief them on the assignment. Also, during this meeting we get our chemistry set out to establish a suitable “fit” with the end client. Only then do we make recommendations.

References are important. However, to date no one has ever given me a bad one. Why? Well you wouldn’t give details of a referee if you thought they would do that. So we need to look beyond this. Extensive knowledge of all our interim managers enables us to identify indirect contacts, perhaps people who have worked for them before or had dealings with, maybe a client or supplier. By speaking to them as well gives us a really good understanding of their work patterns and further helps to ensure the assignment is a success.

Ultimately, proof of the pudding is in the eating. All we would ask is the next time you think you need external assistance, let us know, then we can compare potential interim managers and help you get the best possible solution. Even if it is not one of ours!

Recent interim assignments we have worked on include:

Managing Director -Horticulture -Business improvement
Finance Director -Engineering -Prepare for IPO
Operations -Manufacturing -Process improvement
COO -Financial Services -Process improvement
CEO -Construction -Bonds
Director -Financial Services -New business start-up
Commercial Manager -Support Services -Cover for permanent staff

I hope this update is of interest and as always happy to discuss in more detail.
Kind regards
